First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama has joined the world to intensify the voices for the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.
Over 200 hundred school children were abducted on April 14 by the Islamic extremists Boko Haram in the northern state of Nigeria, Borno.
Top celebrities such Angelina Jolie, Drake have also signed up to the cause that has attracted the interest of international bodies.
Mrs Obama on May 8, 2014 joined the protest campaign when she posted a photo of herself holding up a small placard carrying the currently-world-trending hashtag ‘#BringBackOurGirls’
She wrote on her IG: “Our prayers are with the missing Nigerian girls and their families. It’s time to #BringBackOurGirls. -mo”
CNN’s correspondent in Nigeria, Isha Sesay and a host of others have also joined the campaign that has been quite successful — thanks to the twitter hashtag: #BringBackOurGirls which is the brainchild of Mrs Oby EzekweseliMalala Yousufzai who survived attempted assassination by Taliban was quoted to have said “The girls in Nigeria are my sister”. The Pakistani young girl stood up for her education despite the threats posed by the terrorists.
Nigerian government in collaboration with United States, UK, China and France have reached an agreement to rescue the abducted girls from the claws of insurgents.
