A man returned an act of kindness by giving a restaurant owner £65, 16 years after his original favour.
In 1996, a young lover failed to cough up the bill of £26 in Le Cafe Miche restaurant in New Mexico so the diner boss wiped the order to prevent the youngster from being embarrassed in front of his valentine’s date.
Claus Hjortkjaer was forced to close his diner in intervening years as it hit rock bottom but since then it’s reopened and the first customer was the gentleman he let off all those years ago.
The old customer handed over £65 and Mr. Hjortkjaer said: “Sometimes it pays off to be a nice guy.”
