The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has once again confirmed the high global rating of Nollywood actors as it recently unveiled star actress, Benita Nzeribe, as its Air Safety Ambassador.
The official unveiling of the celebrated actress which held recently at NAMA headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos, was greeted with cheers and applaud by both board members and staff, who all described the choice of Nzeribe as well deserved.
While charging the new ambassador to use her valued name and charisma to ensure that Nigerians embrace air safety, the Managing Director of the Agency, Nnamdi Udoh noted that NAMA had put in place the necessary logistics to commence area radar control in the country, with the aim of improving service delivery and ensuring safety at all time.
He further explained that area radar control is air traffic control service, provided for airplanes flying within the Flight Information Region (FIR). According to him, a considerable number of air traffic controllers have been trained to handle this operation at both Kano and Lagos area control centres for flight operations within the nation’s airspace.
Udoh disclosed that other steps taken by NAMA to enhance air safety in the country were in the area of uninterrupted power supply to navigational aids at the nation’s airports, maintenance as well as rapid training and retraining of staff.
In her remarks, vivacious and elated Nzeribe stated that while there was room for improvement, the dynamism which Udoh has brought to bear on NAMA leadership has restored confidence in the flying public and that air safety was particularly important to Nollywood stars because the urgency of their job makes air transport indispensable.
The Ihiala, Anambra state-born star of the blockbuster TV drama series Beyond Our Dreams and several other hit movies has been the delight of home video viewers for years. Uncanny roles interpretation, outspokenness, among others, has not only helped to keep pretty Nzeribe relevant in the industry, but has also made her a sought-after actress till date.
She however, refused giving details of the multi million Naira endorsement deal that has increased the amount of cash in her bank accounts.
