No fewer than two persons were feared killed, while five others were arrested at Satellite Town area of Lagos when two different groups of hoodlums clashed on Wednesday night over the sale of a property.
Three locally made rifles and several rounds of ammunition used by the hoodlums have been recovered by the police and those arrested are presently making confessional statement regarding their level of involvement in the fracas.
However, neither the identities of those allegedly killed nor those arrested were made known as at the time of filing in this report, but a source told Daily Trust that the hoodlums were contracted by two rival land speculators in the area.
The two land grabs had been at each other’s throat over the control of the area, it was gathered. Daily Trust learnt that the two land grabs decided to settle their differences by contracting the services of urchins to prosecute their battle for them.
One of the gangs armed with cutlasses, bottles and guns arrived at the area driving through Ejegun and its environs chanting war songs. They were said to have ran into the other gang around Satellite Town area.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Ngozi Braide, confirmed the fracas, saying nobody died in the incident. She, however, said five persons have been arrested and they are helping the police to investigate the matter.
