DELTA – Delta Police authorities have arrested over 15 persons in connection with the disappearance of a calculated sum of N14 million from an armoured bank vehicle in the state.
Among the detained persons were 10 Police officers attached to escort the bullion van from the Bank’s Effurun branch to its cash quarters in Ekpan, Delta State.
The shocking incident occurred at one of Delta’s New Generation bank’s cash depot when the missing cash was discovered and neither the attached policemen nor bank officials could give reasons for the sudden and mysterious disappearance of the money.
The Police detective investigating the case said it was not immediately known if the detained policemen knew they transported an empty cash box according to their testimony or if they were culpable in how the money went missing.
The Delta Police PRO when contacted said, he was yet to be briefed on the matter but assured the Police investigating the issue would surely get to its bottom.
