Controversial actress, Lindsay Lohan is gearing up to take on the role of Elizabeth Taylor in a new film, ‘Liz & Dick’.
The movie, which is being produced by Lifetime, a movie production company and TV channel, will focus on the turbulent but passionate romance the late actress had with fellow actor, Richard Burton.
In a statement released on Monday May, 7, 2012, Lifetime’s exec Vice President of programming, Rob Sharenow, said they were ‘thrilled’ to have the 25 year old actress portray the film legend, who died in March 2011.
‘Lohan is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon’, he said.
On her part, the controversial actress said that it was an exciting opportunity for her as she had always ‘admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor.’ ‘She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role’ she said.
Dame Elizabeth Rosemond ‘Liz’ Taylor was a British-American actress, who rose to become one of the great screen actresses of ‘Hollywood’s Golden Age’ and one of the world’s most famous film stars.
She died of heart failure in March 2011 at the age of 79, having suffered many years of ill health.
