Kate Middleton and Prince William Moving Back to London for Royal Duties
For the first time since giving birth to baby George, Kate Middleton and Prince William will be moving back to live in London’s Kensington Palace, whilst they are also to attend a charity event, their first royal duty together as parents. The event will take place the12 September 2013.
Although the Duchess of Cambridge is formally still on maternity leave, it will have to be put on hold in order for her to attend an event for the charity that is close to her husband’s heart.
Prince William is a patron for the Tusk Trust and the maiden event – said to be the first of many – will pay tribute to various heroes of wildlife conservation. The Tusk Trust Conservation Award Ceremony, of which the Duke and Duchess will be honored guests, has a special award named after William – The Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa.
In line with their return to royal duties, the Prince will be changing jobs – he will be taking up a new position with the Blues and Royals cavalry regiment, based in Hyde Park, London, which will be much closer to their newly refurbished Kensington Palace home and most importantly, his wife and new baby.
The Duke of Cambridge will be ending his search and rescue tour of duty as a pilot with RAF Anglesey next month, which he and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge have come to know as their home for the duration of his duties there.
In a crowd-pleasing yet short speech, The Duke cautiously addressed the people of Anglesey in their native Welsh, but soon reverted back to English, thanking them from the bottom of his heart for making his wife and himself so welcome since their arrival to the Welsh isle. In his speech, he confirmed the imminent move.
He also apologized for the absence of his wife Catherine and baby George, who were bonding at home, but added, “He’s pretty loud and of course, extremely good looking,” to howls of appreciative laughter from the crowd.
The Prince went on, “This Island has been our first home here together and will always be an immensely special place for us both.” He ended by talking of his hopes to return many times in the future with his family.
