An international war crimes tribunal today Thursday the 26th of April has found Liberia’s former president, Charles Taylor, guilty of aiding rebels who raped, killed and mutilated civilians in neighboring Sierra Leone.
Judges have not yet formally delivered verdicts against the 64-year-old warlord-turned-president, but Presiding Judge Richard Lussick said that prosecutors have proved beyond reasonable doubt that Taylor is “criminally responsible” for aiding and abetting crimes by rebels in Sierra Leone’s brutal civil war.
