Orient Petroleum: Anambra Awards N5Billion Bridge Contract.

AWKA – The Anambra State Government has awarded a N5 billion contract for the construction of a bridge and access road to link Aguleri Otu, the community hosting the Orient Petroleum Company in Anambra East local government area of the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Chief Joe Martins Uzodike, who disclosed this in Awka said the project had 18 months completion period.

The road, he said, would link the oil-bearing community with Umueje in Ayamelum local government area of the state.

Presently, those travelling to the oil-rich community pass through another community in Enugu State and it is expected that the new road project will reduce the journey to Orient Petroleum facility by half.

The commissioner also announced contract awards for other roads, including access roads at the new Green Wood City in Awka, at a cost N3.6 billion, MINAJ-Nkpor-Obosi road erosion control at N1.5 million and Azubuike – LIMCA road in Onitsha at N2 million.

Also awarded by the state government are the expansion of the Agulu Lake Hotel (30 additional rooms) at N350 million and Onitsha Hotel (50 additional rooms) at N750 million.
