Obey,Onwenu,Chimezie,Shina Peters And KWAM 1 Billed For Joint Gig

Over The Top Entertainment has announced its concert tagged ‘Night With The Masters,’ which will feature veterans in the Nigerian entertainment industry such as Onyeka Onwenu, Ebenezer Obey, Femi Kuti, Bright Chimezie, Wasiu Ayinde and Shina Peters on one stage in one night.

The event is billed for September 13, 2013 at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

CEO of Over The Top Entertainment, Akin Alabi, said that the event was being put together to give music lovers a taste of classic Nigerian music.

“Everywhere you turn to, you will see events that target the lovers of hip hop music in Nigeria. While this is a positive sign that the Nigerian music industry is growing in leaps and bounds everyday, there is no doubt that a lot of people, especially the lovers and followers of the music of the grand masters of Nigerian music, are being left out,”Alabi said.

Onyeka Onwenu is a singer, actress, politician and a judge on the Glo X Factor reality show. In 2006, she won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a supporting role. She is currently the chairperson of the Imo State Council for Arts and Culture.

Obey is renowned for Christian spiritual themes in his music and has since the early-1990s retired into the Nigerian gospel music ministry.

Bright Chimezie, also known as Okoro Junior, is a Nigerian highlife musician with his peculiar type of song known as zigima, which was once widely popular in Nigeria.

Sir Shina Peters, a juju musician, began his career while playing the guitar with General Prince Adekunle but left the band in the 1980s to form his own group. He became a household name in the late 80s and early 90s with a string of successful albums.

Femi Kuti is the eldest son of  late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. The younger Kuti has performed his music globally, while playing regularly at home at his New Afrika Shrine. with strong vocals and  is good at Saxophone,trumpet, keyboards. He recently did a joint concert with 2face Idibia.

Fuji maestro King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal completes the bill of artists for the ‘Night With the Masters’ concert. K1′s relevance is proven with regular new releases that continue to make waves within his dedicated fanbase.
