Argentine Forward and Football star Messi has escaped possible jail term by paying £4.2m to Spanish authorities after he was accused in June of filing false tax returns. Messi and his father paid the hefty sum as ‘corrective payment’.
He’s scheduled to appear at a hearing on September 17 but his lawyer has asked for the date to be pushed because his client has an engagement on that day .
With this payment it is unlikely that Messi will face jail time – the World Footballer of the Year was facing 6 years behind bars before his payment.
