Keshi Happy With Omeruo’s Successful Surgery

Nigeria Coach Stephen Keshi has revealed that he has been in constant touch with Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo, who underwent a successful surgery last week in England. Omeruo missed the Super Eagles’ trip to South Africa last Wednesday where they defeated Bafana Bafana 2-0 in Durban.

“We have been in constant touch and he has been very enthusiastic about the operation that was carried out last Wednesday and he is now recuperating very well which is good news to me personally and to the entire national team, because we really missed him during the Bafana Bafana game in Durban. The shocking thing is that while he was at the hospital for the operation, he was monitoring the game and speaking constantly to me, which shows his total dedication to the team and Nigerian football,” Keshi said.

Keshi added that he was aware that the Alhaji Aminu Maigari led Nigeria Football Federation has also been in constant touch with the player and the entire Nigerian football community is happy at the progress the player has made so far after the operation.

The shoulder operation is expected to keep Omeruo out of the team for some months. But Keshi declared that the player will always be a part of his national team plans because of his quality on and off the pitch, share zeal, patriotism, quality of play and consistency.“We all in the national team and on behalf of the NFF are wishing him the quickest,” Keshi added.
