The Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation, Ms. Josephine Washima, has described the former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida as a beckon of hope and one whose democratic examples should be heeded by the country. Washima stated this in a tribute titled: “Nigerian youths pay tribute to IBB as he celebrates 72 years of his life.”

Describing the former military president as a man whose intelligence was contagious due to his inseparable link with history, Washima who joined other prominent Nigerians to salute him said, “Nigeria will forever draw strength and inspiration from his extra ordinary example.”

She said that Nigeria owes the former president a debt of gratitude for readily giving himself for peace and stability of the country over the years and expressed the hope that if emulated, Nigeria would achieve more in the democratic enterprise.

The Special Assistant further said that her loyalty to the “Maradona of our time, remains at 100 percent.  That is the secret to my success,” and urged Nigerians to tap from the wealth of experience of the former head of state to strive to achieve greater height.

She posited, “This time round, I felt it is important that Nigerian youth who have met the man IBB in person share their experience and honest opinion about him with others and not just what is written about him in the media. And when best can we do this but as he celebrates his 72 years on earth.”

She continued, “This year, Nigerian youths who have had the opportunity to meet the man personally are paying him a birthday tribute and voicing their sincere opinion about IBB. This is key because they are not looking for political favours from him; they are only sharing and airing their honest opinion about IBB.

“A lot of controversy and misery are woven around the man IBB,. He is a man you love to hate but if you dislike him then make sure you don’t meet him in person because if you do, you will fall in love with his humble personality and the manner in which he is always ready to share his experiences and encourage you to be what you want to be.

“At this occasion of the 72nd birthday of Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida , I decided to sample the opinion of some Nigerian youths who have had the chance to meet this wonderful individual and I got overwhelming responses and decided to put them together and publish them as a tribute to him,” she surmised.
