Actors’ Guild of Nigeria honours Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde

 The Actor’s Guild of Nigeria (AGN) held a dinner party to celebrate one of Nollywood’s finest Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. The event which held at the Oriental Hotel,Victoria Island had several celebrities from the Entertainment and Broadcast Industry who came together to celebrate the actress’ recent Times Magazine recognition.

Hosted by veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze, guests at the event tagged ‘Celebrating Omotola’ included the main attraction herself Omotola who arrived in company of her husband Mathew Ekeinde and her four children: Princess, M.J, Meriaih, and Michael; the AGN Lagos chairman, Victor Osuagwu; other key players in the movie industry, Fred Amata, Ini Edo, Charles Novia, Monalisa Chinda, Rita Dominic, Olisa Adibua, Zeb Ejiro, Zik Zulu Okafor, Chidi Mokeme, Steve Onu, amongst others.

Guests were treated to an evening of music, and entertainment with performances from the G-Notes Band, Capital Femi, Timi Dakolo and comedy skit from Funny Bones.

Speaking with NET correspondent, the AGN president Ibinabo Fiberesima described Omotola as ‘a very passionate, loving mother…and very innovative actress’. She added that although this was the first time the AGN would be honoring one of their own, she intends to work towards celebrating other people in the movie who are worthy of such recognition in future.

Receiving her award from the AGN president, Omotola thanked her colleagues and family, describing the award as one of the biggest honors she has ever received. In her words, ‘it’s always a good thing when you are recognized but it’s awesome when one of your own recognizes you’. She further urged other actors and actresses to continue being passionate for what they are doing adding that, ‘you might not always be noticed…..still continuing doing it with all passion because one key person is seeing you. You don’t need the whole world to change life but just one person and that one person is watching you.’

Omotola was honoured in April on the 2013 Times 100 Most Influential People in The World List alongside Michelle Obama, Beyonce and Kate Middleton.
