ASUU is asking the Federal Government to honour the 2009 agreement both parties reached. One major component is the Academic Earned Allowance,AEA.

Yesterday meeting held at the headquarters of the National Universities Commission,NUC, in Abuja, was chaired by the Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Rufa’i.

Peculiar Magazine gathered that most of the Vice Chancellors were in attendance.

Speaking, Rufa’i appealed to the striking lecturers to call off the strike and resume talks.

The Minister, who disclosed that she will lead a delegation from the ministry to meet with members of the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Education, urged ASUU officials to be present.

The meeting was scheduled for Monday evening.

“We would be meeting with the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Education and our colleagues would be there and after that encounter, we would take decisions, she said.
“I believe that after tomorrow, you will know the relationship between government and ASUU. But the good thing is that we always plead that they go back to classes.”
