Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife held a protest on the streets of Chicago, saying she is homeless as a result of several court battles against the NBA All-Star that have not gone her way.Siohvaughn Funches-Wade says that she has been forced to live “on the streets” in her public protest near the Daley Center in downtown Chicago. She held a sign that read “NBA Miami Heat star mother of his children on the streets.”
After their divorce settlement, she was awarded a lump sum of $1 million as well as $25 thousand a month in spousal support. Far from chump change, she is not exactly scraping by.
Claiming that following a string of court battles against her former husband Dwayne Wade, Funches was desperate and will live on the streets to protest the “injustice” of her failed legal battles.
A recently dropped lawsuit shows that Wade’s ex-wife attempted to win some money from his endorsement deals that Funches felt she deserved. Strangely, according to the official court papers filed last week, she dropped the law suit voluntarily.
Despite attempting to get endorsement money from Dwyane Wade, Funches said that “I don’t want anything, no money, all I want is my freedom and my voice,” she said.
Dwyane Wade and Siohvaugh divorced in 2008 and fought a custody battle over their two sons that garnered a vast amount of media attention. No stranger to erratic behavior, during their original custody battle she parted with nine lawyers according to TMZ.
In 2011 Dwyane Wade was awarded full custody of his two sons, while Funches was granted shift visits with the children. Wade and his sons currently live in Florida, but he is a native of Chicago.
A bizarre protest by Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife is just the latest chapter in the on-going drama between the two. It doesn’t appear as if the two are done battling it out, however the feud apparently has moved from the court room to the streets.
A representative of Dwyane Wade could not be reached to comment on his ex-wife and her bizarre protest, however he took to Instagram to show his feelings on the matter.
