The Borno State commissioner for Religious Affairs and Special Education, Hon. Usman Durkwa has distributed three trucks of rice and cash donations to the nine local government areas of Southern Borno in the spirit of Ramadan Kareem/fasting. The local government areas which benefited from the gesture are Hawul, Chibok, Askira/Uba, Shani, Kwaya-Kusar, Damboa, Bayo, Biu, and Gwoza.

In Hawul where the commissioner hails from, he visited all the ruling All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) executives of the wards and gave them bags of rice and cash.

Durkwa said the gesture was to further cement their relationship with party officials as well as a demonstration of government’s appreciation for their commitment, loyalty and cooperation with Kashim Shettima’s administration.

He added that Governor Kashim was committed to transforming the state in the area of health, housing, agriculture, provision of basic amenities like pipe-borne water, roads and drainage networks and poverty alleviation among others.

He urged the people to support the government for more developments.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Abdu Saje, ANPP local government chairman in Hawul described Durkwa as a grassroots politician who has the fear of God and the love of his people at heart.

He promised that all the items donated would be shared to everybody irrespective of religious or political affiliations.
