Benzema Ready For Mission Impossible.

Karim Benzema is convinced that France are capable of causing an upset and beating Spain in Tuesday night’s World Cup qualifier in Madrid.

The Real Madrid striker will come up against some of his team-mates from the Bernabeu who boast an impressive unbeaten run of 17 competitive games dating back to 2012.

But Benzema is confident of France’s ability to bounce back from the friendly defeat to Japan and pull off what the Spanish press have labelled ‘Mission Impossible’.

”It’s not (impossible)”, he said. “They are not unbeatable. Spain is a great team, with great players, but we can compete with them. Tuesday, they will have 11 warriors in front of them”, he promised. ”Spain likes to play with the ball. We’ll have to be more defensive, but not only. We all want to produce a big match.”

Benzema hasn’t scored for France since a friendly against Estonia in June. He hopes to find back the way to net against some of his club-mates, but values a win above personal glory. “It would be good to score, we tease each other with Sergio Ramos,” he added. “But the most important is the win. It will be a difficult game, we’ll give everything to win. It’s not impossible.”
