Scores of people are have died after a tanker exploded in Okobie town in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State early this morning Thursday 12 of July.
The fuel tanker was said to have broken down overnight on a road in the area and was gushing fuel. A large crowd of people reportedly formed around the tanker, scooping fuel. Witnesses said that as the scooping of fuel was on, there was an explosion.
A fire broke out immediately and consumed scores of persons at the spot, which is near the border between Rivers and Bayelsa states. Many others were also injured.
