FASHION: Karen Igho And Shan George Rock The Backless Dress.

Backless and Open back dresses are a must-have for many women, especially those with flawless skin. With the right design and colour, and worn by the right person, it’s simply a piece to die for. However, there is a slight difference between both; while backless dresses fully expose the back, the open back style is a bit more restrained.

Using two Nigerian celebrities, namely Karen Igho and Shan George, as case studies, here are few tips to wearing the dress right.

The most important thing before choosing either a backless or open back dress is to consider the event and the weather. If it’ll be too cold, then it’s probably not a good idea to go totally backless.

When choosing the dress, great attention must be given the waist, since the upper part of the dress may be loose because of its backless feature. It’s therefore important to be sure the waistband doesn’t sag in anyway. In this regard, Shan scores a reasonably high mark, as does Karen.

Wearing a backless dress doesn’t exclude the need for a bra. In fact, a special type of backless bra, with adhesives on the side to help mold it to the body,  is most advisable. Karen scores high here, as her bust-line looks adequately ‘packaged’, unlike Shan.

Dresses of this nature usually look better with the hair down since they already expose a lot, but in this regard, Karen beats Shan, whose low cut blonde hairdo is more like a don’t.

Backless and open back dresses don’t need many accessories since the dress itself attracts attention. It’s best to play it cool with the accessories, so the back can get all the attention it desires. Karen and Shan did just great in this aspect.
