AVB Reportedly In Line To Replace Dalglish.

Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly one of the candidates to take over the recently-vacated managerial seat at Liverpool.

The Reds announced late on Wednesday they were parting ways with club legend Kenny Dalglish after a season that saw them finish 8th in the Barclays Premier League, although they did win the Carling Cup after beating Cardiff on penalties at Wembley.

Dalglish’s departure also means that Liverpool are now looking for their fourth manager in four years, and according to both The Guardian and The Sun, Villas-Boas is one of the candidates being considered to take over at Anfield.

The 34-year-old Portuguese was handed the reins at Chelsea at the start of this season after leading Porto to a treble but struggled to come to terms with life at Stamford Bridge, and reportedly lost the respect of the dressing room.

He was ultimately replaced by Roberto Di Matteo, who has since led the Blues to the Champions League final, and was most recently linked with a move to Roma to replace the outgoing Luis Enrique.

The Guardian however believes he is leading a three-man shortlist that includes Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp and Marseille boss Didier Deschamps, while The Sun report Liverpool owner John W. Henry is could go local in hiring either Alan Pardew or Brendan Rodgers of Newcastle and Swansea respectively.

There have also been talks that former Reds boss Rafa Benitez could be in line for a return to Anfield but the current favourite appears to be Villas-Boas, who is still considered by some as one of Europe’s most-talented young managers despite his disastrous spell with the Blues.
